SCOPE
1 . 1 G e n e r a l . T h i s dash-numbered part of the Automated Engineering Document
P r e p a r a t i o n System (AEDPS), provides detailed requirements for the prepara-
t i o n of Military Specification Exception (MSE) documentation for-Inductors.
1.2 Purpose. This military standard provides the necessary information to
p r e p a r e a Specification Requirement Sheet (SRS) which will be used to
g e n e r a t e an MSE by automated data processing.

otherwise specified in this dash-numbered part, the following list contains

1.4 Military Specification Exception Title Index. It is recommended that
M I L - S T D - 1 2 8 6 , Selection and Use of Transformers, Inductors, and Coils be
r e v i e w e d prior to using this dash-numbered part book.
T h e title code for an MSE shall be selected from one of the MSE titles
l i s t e d i n t h e T i t l e I n d e x ( s e e t a b l e I ) . D a t a bases have been established
for the generation of MSE's for the MSE titles indicated. If a suitable
title code is not contained in the Title Index, leave the title code spaces
o n the SRS blank, and attach a request for the assignment of a title code.
Include in the request the desired title and the base document identifier.
A code will be assigned and the code, title, and base document will be made
a part of the Title Index.
One of the six-digit codes listed in the Title Index, entered on an
SRS, will specify that the title of the MSE will be the title shown in the
Title Index.
E a c h MSE title listed in the Title Index is compatible with the docu-
m e n t ( s ) l i s t e d w i t h t h a t t i t l e u n d e r b a s e d o c u m e n t . T h e list of base docu-
m e n t s may or may not be a complete listing. T h e information shown under
c o v e r a g e i s i n t e n d e d f o r t h e u s e r ' s r e f e r e n c e ; when more than one document
is listed for an MSE title, this information will be found useful in deter-
m i n i n g which of the documents is most suitable for use as the base document.
